Sergeant Cory B. Wride

Sergeant Cory Wride was shot and killed from ambush while checking on what he believed was an abandoned vehicle. A subject opened fire with a high-powered rifle fatally wounding Sergeant Wride.
Sergeant Wride was a Utah National Guard veteran and had served with the Utah County Sheriff‘s Office for 19 years. He is survived by his wife and 5 children.
 
Police Officer Daryl R. Pierson

Rochester Police Department, New York

Police Officer Daryl Pierson was shot and killed while involved in a foot pursuit of a paroled suspect following a traffic stop. Officer Pierson was a veteran of the National Guard and was with Rochester Police Department for 8 years. He is survived by his wife and two young children.
 
Deputy Sheriff Matthew Chism

Cedar County Sheriff‘s Office, Missouri

Deputy Sheriff Matthew Chism was shot and killed following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase in El Dorado Springs, Missouri. He attempted to stop a driver with no headlights when the vehicle fled.
Deputy Chism had served with the Cedar County Sheriff‘s Office for just under 2 years. He is survived by his wife and 1 young child.
